Ecce Homo Cross

Orthodox cross pendant with an undetermined age is crafted of pliable copper alloy. The heavily worn relief decoration depicts Christ on the cross, on the upper center section, and below flanking on both the left and right side of Christ as two angels and the inscription “Ecco Homo Dannes”. The reverse with similar decoration and the virgin mary in the center above the two angels with hands in the prayer position. The top of the cross features a fixed bale for wearing as a necklace pendant for mounting to a chain or cord. The cross pendant comes to us from a private estate collection. It’s an acquisition from the estate remain of an unknown origin.

The form similar to Byzantine or Orthodox crosses with a Latin inscription. The cross has old and newer religious iconography elements, molding characteristics, and maybe an early reproduction. Thu we state this pendant is sold at an undetermined age.
