Melvin H. Pekarsky (born September 18, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois) is an American artist and art instructor who lives in Chicago, Illinois. His paintings and sketches of the desert are among his most well-known works. Donald Kuspit, a critic for the New York Times, describes him as “one of the most prominent modern landscape artists.”
Peekasky has been a professor of art at the State University of New York at Stony Brook for over forty years. His work has been exhibited in numerous venues, including the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Fogg Museum of Art at Harvard University, The Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Butler Institute of American Art.
