Shop this Pierre Auguste Renoir chalk drawing for sale. The original drawing is signed with the last name of the French Impressionist “Renoir.” The image, a young girl’s side head profile drawn in red pencil, sanguine, or red chalk on paper. The reverse matting details the provenance stamp from an Italian art gallery dating to the early 20th century reading “Belle Arti Francobolli Per Collezioni Ettore Ragozino from Galleria Umberto Napoli.” Galleria Umberto Napoli was a shopping area mall built in Naples, Italy, built between 1887-1891.
This drawing is not included in the catalog raisonne affiliated with the Wildenstein Institute and does not include any certificate from such an institution. The drawing signed Renoir in the lower-left corner. Generally, it was not common for Renoir to sign sketches or drawings, and as such, many such drawings are known to have the Renoir signature placed on them after the artist’s life. The French impressionist style is a charming and subtle drawing that adds a lightly colorful element to a wall decor interior—the dating dates to the later 19th century.
