This is a vintage Robert Marx art print from the 1960s. It is an expressionist etching of an upper-profile portrait of a man. The print has bold lines and dark shadows. It is signed and dated by the artist in the lower right corner. This print would make a great addition to any art collection. German expressionist Marx was known for his portrait etchings. This work is hand entitled “Mr. Watelich is blind.” Born in Germany, Marx emigrated to the United States early in his career and became part of an important group of American Expressionist artists focused on the theme of figurative subjects. Among his contemporaries are Leonard Baskin and Leon Golub. The original etching is dated 1965.
