Japanese ojime wooden bead. Cicada form, Taisho era or earlier. Hand-carved and signed in Kanji by the artist underside. The well-articulated wooden bead depicts the cicada atop a chestnut. With a rich malted amber tone with inlaid onyx tone eyes. The bead with holes through threading to a necklace strand or a bracelet like a charm, necklace bead, beadwork, or pendant.
