Product Information
Scholars used landscape wrist rests during the Chinese Republic Period (1912-1949) and throughout the Ming and Qing dynasties while they were practicing the art of calligraphy. The wrist rest provided a surface for the arm to rest upon and helped prevent smudging the ink. This particular wrist rest is bamboo and inscribed with a detailed landscape scene. The landscape includes mountains, trees, and a river. The wrist rest would make an excellent addition to any collection of Chinese art.
Dimensions
8.25 inches in length.
Condition
The wrist rest has minor imperfections and staining. A small splinter is noted on the edge of one side of the bamboo.
