Shop this antique hand-embellished Victorian portrait photograph for sale. This unique portrait of a girl or young woman displays elements of period fashion with ornate necklace jewelry and decorative style indicative of the Victorian era fashion and dress. This Victorian-era portrait photograph is hand embellished and traced with chalk.
This work combines two forms of art medium formats: a photogravure or printed photograph, which is then covered in a fine tracing paper and then recreated with artist chalks—giving the appearance of this as an original drawing, for which it does an excellent job in representing. This portrait in half profile probably dates to the late 19th century, circa 188-1890, and comes to us from a farmhouse estate located in the Southern end of New York State. It is presumed this was a family member of the estate, which dated back to 1830.

Condition
The sheet displays surface abrasions and wrapping to the edges of the paper. The surface chalk is loosely applied and will come off if rubbed.
