Shop this old trade card is for Sapanule Elixir for sale. “Cures Rheumatism, Neuralgia, Lumbago, and all inflammatory pains” and recommended by Henry Bergh, President of the American Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. These types of advertising cards were most popular from 1875-1900. The origin of these cards came from England during the 18th century. After the invention of commercial lithography printing and the use of these cards at the 1876 centennial exhibition in Philidelphia, in which these cards were handed out, these cards exploded in the United States. These charming little cards often feature animated scenes that are always a warming joy to look over.
