This necklace medallion title reads Si Wan. Or 40,000. The Mahjong Si Wan tile carved of bone is vintage circa the 1930s or 1940s, with hand-carved Chinese characters and blue and red hand-painted decoration. The sterling silver bamboo style designed tile frame, the corresponding mounts, and necklace strand are contemporary, circa the 1990s-2000s. Still not new, yet, a far cry from the age of the vintage tile.
The sterling silver mounted frame of the necklace pendant is designed as a framework, allowing both the front and the back of the tile to be visible. The reverse of the silver frame is stamped .925, a shorthand abbreviation for sterling silver. The silver mounted pendant is mounted on a black leather strand with a silver clasp.

Condition
The Mahjong tile displays fade to the hand-painted decoration and scuffs across the tile associated with wear and use. The sterling silver mounts display oxidation and tarnish.
