In a high relief design, the bronze plaque’s upper corner is inscribed Mark Twain, centenary of his birth, with a date in roman numerals of MDCCCXXXV, MCMXXXV. The lower section of the wall plaque style medal depicts his iconic characters, Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer, with the inscription “Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.” Part of the later released Society of Medalists series, Co-founded in 1929 by Clyde Curlee Tree, this medal was designed in 1935 and released publicly circa 1950. The medal’s rectangular size is perfect for adding to a gallery wall or as unique tabletop decor with a circular mounting loop on the reverse.

Condition
The medal displays tarnish and oxidation to the bronze with minor surface abrasions to the surface and edges. The surface displays areas of paint spots.
