This early 19th-century outline of the eastern portion of North America Phillips, Bridge Street, Black-friar London details the Eastern portion of North America, Louisiana, Western, and the western territories. The locations denote areas such as “The Flathead Nation,” “Nation of the Bear,” “Chippewas,” “Country of The Six Nations,” “Cherokees,” and other such boundaries and notations related to the Native American tribes living in North America.
While little is found on the cartography of R. Phillips, London, what is known is that they had created a series of maps on areas through the United States during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. This is an enjoyable map to look through and would make an excellent addition to any antique map collection or for travel-related wall art decor. This engraved work was collected by a long-time collector of rare cartography in the New England area.
