Product Information
The best from “Tonics and Sedatives.” A collection of cartoons and anecdotes from the Journal of the American Medical Association. Edited by Austin Smith, M.D. Editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association, 1958. With numerous black and white cartoons on the medical profession.
Excerpt: For years, a small section known as “Tonics and Sedatives” has been familiar to readers of the Journal of the American Medical Association. Perhaps not all have shown the expected symptoms following exposure to something presumed to be at least mildly infectious. Many, however, have expressed themselves by opinion or through contributions to reveal the infectiousness of the funnier side of our daily life. “Tonics and Sedatives” is a collection of stories from life as might be experienced by doctors and their patients. Some of these from recent years have been collected in this book with the anticipation that readers from everywhere will be reminded of their own experiences of those of their colleagues.
