The Sukhothai Period in Thailand was a time of great artistic and cultural development, particularly in the field of bronze casting. Bronze was used to create a wide variety of objects, including statues of the Buddha, as well as decorative items such as bells and candlesticks. The bronze casting techniques developed during this period were highly advanced and produced intricate and detailed works. Many Sukhothai-period bronzes are considered to be masterpieces of Thai art and are highly valued by collectors and museums. This exquisite 13th-century Bronze Budda from Sukhothai Period is well articulated and modeled with a fine patina and features. The back of the base retains an old label dating the piece.

The sculpture measures 4.5 inches from the stand base to the finial top.
Condition
The sculpture has oxidation, tarnish, scuffs, and residue on the base; the head moves on the post when turned, with an old paper label on the base.
