This rare postcard depicts Louisa Frederici seated next to a Sioux Indian chief in an undated black and white photograph. Frederici married William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody on March 6, 1866, in St. Louis, Missouri. They remained married until Cody died in 1917. Cody was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1872 for his service as an Army scout during Indian Wars and remained an iconic figure of early American history. This rare photograph postcard includes a rare handwritten note on the back of the card from a close family acquaintance of Frederici.
